Television, newspaper and radio are the three main types of media in Bangalore. Bangalore is also known as the silicon valley of India, so the onset of Internet as one of the mediums of communication was among the first in this city of India.

Printer's Mysore Limited is the largest print media house of the state of Karnataka. This media house is the owner of the two of the largest selling newspaper of Bangalore ? Deccan Herald and the Praja Vani. The Indian Express, Sahil Daily, Udayavani, Sanjevani, Udayavani and The Hindu are the other newspaper media in Bangalore.

Television is another important media in Bangalore. The television media entered Bangalore in 1981 when Doordarshan established a relay center in the city. In 1983, November 19th , Bangalore for the first time heard news in Kannada language. DD Chandana is the satellite channel of Doordarshan in Bangalore. Cable network entered Bangalore market in 1991 with Star TV. After nearly two decades cable networks are controlled and operated by the cable operators of the city. Direct ? to ? Broadcasting media in Bangalore, radio has been in operation since 1955, November 2nd. All India Radio was the first radio channel of the city. After 2001 FM channels started invading the frequencies in Bangalore, Radio City was the first private FM channel of Bangalore. Now you can tune into a number of FM channels in Bangalore. HAM radio clubs can also be found in Bangalore.

Compared to rest of India Internet service entered early in the city. Since the early 1990's Internet service is available in Bangalore. STPI was the first Internet service provider of the city. By 1995 Dial ? up Internet service was provided in Bangalore. This technical hub of India today has the largest number of high speed Internet connections in the whole country.
